Reduction Behavior and Characteristics of Metal Oxides in the Nanoscale

The development of nanomaterials and nanotechnology enables the production nanosized metallic alloys with advanced characteristics from their oxides via a thermal reduction technique. aim present work was to produce iron, nickel, tungsten through gaseous metal oxide powders as preliminary step towards fabrication heavy unique properties. Nanosized NiO, Fe2O3, WO3 were isothermally non-isothermally reduced H2, oxygen weight loss continuously recorded function time. Thermogravimetric TG-DTA technique applied in non-isothermal up 1000 °C. extents calculated TG curve, whereas accompanying heat reaction measured DTA curve. results revealed that NiO at <420 °C, Fe2O3 <600 >950 In isothermal process, H2 700–1000 °C; micro-force balance used O2 recorded. At given temperature, rate increased order > WO3. nano-oxide products physically chemically characterized. activation energy (Ea) values computed initial later stages elucidate corresponding mechanism. Ea indicated controlled by gas diffusion mechanism both reduction. study determined optimal operation parameters which could be for preparing oxides.
